good job!

If, in the UK, you have seen Nannie 911 you will know about "good job"bing. The nannie uses this expression all the time to "encourage" children who usually only get criticised by their parents. We don't use "good job" here, but it is creeping in (someone said "good sharing" to my son the other day), and we have many equivalents ways of boxing children up with praise.

'"Good job!" is a remnant of an approach to psychology that reduces all of human life to behaviors that can be seen and measured. Unfortunately, this ignores the thoughts, feelings, and values that lie behind behaviors.'
