We got a Raleigh Chuckles. It's a good bike, but we had to fix it before it would work. The cog holding the chain needed to be wound further in: it was rubbing against the frame and the pedals wouldn't go round. It was sad for me because I remembered, as a child, I too had had a brand new raleigh. It had many things wrong with it from the moment we got it home. Soon afterwards, I entered a cycling proficiency test during a big cycling fun-day. My bike failed to pass the road-worthiness test. Consequently, I failed my cycling proficiency. What a pathetic moment that was for me. I felt so humiliated, lost and alone when they found and noted that one thing after another wasn't working on my bike. I was told it wasn't safe to go on the road.
Children's bikes should be in a fit state to ride when then are sold cos not all parents are going to fix them up for their child, and the child can't do it for themselves.
